Take Advantage of the Good Weather and Learn to Drive This Summer

Although some people don't mind taking driving lessons during the winter, many people receive the majority of their driving instruction during the spring and summer when the weather is, shall we say, much less treacherous. Regardless of age, most North Americans prefer to learn to drive when snow and ice are not a factor.
Now that the school year is over, many young people will be looking for quality driving instruction so they can learn the skills they need to drive in all types of weather. Younger, inexperienced drivers are usually more comfortable learning to drive when weather is not a factor; this gives them the confidence to face those tough driving days when winter weather sets in.
Quality driving instruction includes teaching new drivers how to be prepared behind the wheel no matter which time of year they’re driving in. Driving through a snowstorm requires skill and patience; you have to adjust your driving to account for slick road conditions, reduced visibility, and most importantly, other drivers. You should never assume that the driver in front of you, behind you or along side you is confident behind the wheel during inclement weather. Many bad weather fender-benders occur because drivers refuse to take weather conditions into consideration when they get behind the wheel. They think they can drive as they normally would on a clear, dry, sunny day when it’s raining buckets or during a blinding snowstorm. The fact is, you can’t think that way. A safe driver knows that if he or she is not confident behind the wheel during bad weather, the safest place to be is off the road.
An experienced driving instructor is the best person to teach anyone how to handle the roads no matter which season, in any type of weather. Whether you’ve never been behind the wheel of a car before or haven’t driven in a long time, it pays to put safety first and rely on someone who has the experience to show you how to drive safely during bad weather. Sure, you want to make sure your vehicle is equipped to handle the weather, but more importantly, the driver of that vehicle needs to be equipped as well. Remember, driving is a skill and a privilege, not a right. We need to learn how to do it, and do it well in order to be a safe, courteous driver.
Now that the days are warm and tbere is plenty of daylight, it is for most people the ideal time to learn how to drive or brush up on their driving skills. Find a driving instructor you feel confident with and buckle up!
